Second leg offers a guaranteed pot of R6m!
Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom in Durban will play host to the second leg of the SunBet Poker Tour, hosted by Sun International, in May.
Billed as Africa’s Richest Poker Tour, the SunBet Poker Tour will return to the property in Umhlanga Rocks from 5–14 May.
There is a guaranteed pot of R6 million for the event. The first leg of the popular Poker Tour took place at Time Square Casino in Pretoria in early March which saw 455 unique players take part.
“The opening event of the 2023 Tour was an incredible success, bringing international standard poker, prestige, and a significant prize money pot to the table,” SunBet’s CEO, Simon Gregory said. “We are confident that the Sibaya leg will build on this and provide players as well as local fans a thrilling experience.”
The Poker Tour is in its second year with SunBet as the main sponsor which makes stops at Sun International properties around South Africa. In 2022, the Tour saw more than R66-million paid out in prizes and organisers expect the 2023 five-leg edition to be even bigger and more lucrative.
The SunBet Poker Tour also includes a Race to Vegas element which sees the top 10 players on the leaderboard win a trip to Las Vegas to take part in The World Series of Poker. The Sibaya event is the last chance for players to win points on the Race to Vegas Leaderboard and the Top 10 will be announced at the end of the event. However, a series of Vegas Satellite events around the country in May and June will allow players who may have missed out a further chance to qualify.
The SunBet Poker Tour is open to anyone with a Sun International MVG card which can be activated on the day of the event.
The rest of the tour is planned for Sun City, Boardwalk and GrandWest.
