On Tuesday 23 July, 164 golfers played in perfect conditions at Mount Edgecombe Country Club to raise money for the South African Bone Marrow Registry at the Sunflower Fund Golf Day.
A total of R91 105 was raised to give hope to more patients requiring a bone marrow stem cell transplant.
The funds will be used to recruit more committed, healthy donors to the South African Bone Marrow Registry. The larger the Registry, the more chance children and young adults diagnosed with leukaemia have of finding their life-saving match.
For the seventh consecutive year, Rodel Financial Services was the main sponsor of the event. Greenday Property co-sponsored this year with the International Hotel School ably assisting with registration and raffle sales on the day.
Wayne Fyvie compered the evening and shared some entertaining rugby and golf stories.
Ross Leah was the lucky winner of a two-hour cruise on the ‘Spirit of eLan’ for being the first person to enter and pay for his 4 Ball team.
The Sunflower Fund would like to thank Shackleton Risk Management for their generous donation of running a competition on their sponsored tee. All money raised was donated to The Sunflower Fund.
The top twenty 4 Balls on course 1 and the top six 4 Balls on course 2 received a sponsored prize.
The Sunflower Fund would like to extend a big thank you to all involved for ‘Sharing a Little to Save a Life’.
