February 9, 2012: The Old Mutual Music at the Lake series kicks off its 2012 season on Valentine’s Day, February 14, when two iconic South African artists share the stage. SAMA award winners Arno Carstens and Louise Carver will set a most romantic mood while fans spend the day in the beautiful surroundings of the Botanic Gardens.
Hailed as “The Godfather of South African Rock” for the role he has played in the South African rock music industry over the past two decades, Arno Carstens first came to national attention with the alt-rock group Springbok Nude Girls which packed out venues around the country in the 90s. Today, he has a more refined, pop edge, and is an internationally signed, platinum selling singer-songwriter. Some of Carstens’ best known numbers include A Galaxy to Explore (Another Universe) and The Hello Goodbye Boys.
Louise Carver is the perfect counterpart to Carstens for the Valentine’s Day concert at the Lake; she has kept on churning out hits and winning critical acclaim along with commercial success throughout an illustrious career. Look out for the hit songs Home, It Don’t Matter and The Only Thing, among others.
