Excitement is building ahead of the 100th edition of the SA Open golf tournament at Durban Country Club. When the championship tees off on December 16 it will be the 17th South African Open to be hosted by the prestigious Durban club.
A classy line-up of top South African players was further bolstered by the news that South Africa’s most loved player (and most decorated in recent times) Ernie Els will join the top class line-up. Els has had a strong year on the US tour, including three big wins and healthy money earnings. His impressive record over the years includes three majors, two US Opens and one British Open championship.
Els will join world class players like Retief Goosen, Tim Clark and Louis Oosthuizen (current British Open champion), who will proudly fly the South African flag and attempt to win what is the second oldest national open championship in the world after the British Open.
