The Green Gallery in Mount Edgecombe presents an explosion of colour, energy and joy with artists Makiwa Mutomba and Judy Wentzel, who will be sharing their interpretation of ‘Bold and Beautiful’.
Makiwa Mutomba was born in 1976 in Zimbabwe and attended various urban schools around the country until University level. He is now based in South Africa and has exhibited at numerous art galleries in Germany, London, France, India and USA.
In 2009, Mutomba won an award for painting at the SNBA (Societie Nationale Des Beaux-Arts), an international annual exhibition held at the Carrousel Du Louvre in Paris.
Judy Wentzel has a very unique style, painting her artworks upside down. This allows her to use other parts of her brain and she only turns the canvas around once the painting is finished.
Judy successfully ran her own gallery for four years but closed it to follow her other dream – writing. She is currently in the process of completing work on six children’s books, with illustrations done by her as well.
Owen ‘Llewellyn’ Davies will also be launching his latest bronze sculpture for the season at the event.

During his formative years on his family farm in the Rhodesian Bushveld, Llewellyn spent many hours in the bush modelling simple figures out of ant heap clay, showing a remarkable eye for proportion, form and an uncanny ability to capture the essence of his subject.
Today, a large number of companies and private collectors worldwide have added Llewellyn bronzes to their collections, both once-off commissions as well as limited edition pieces.
The event will open at 6pm on Thursday 3 October, and will run until Monday 14 October.
The Green Gallery is open on Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 5pm, and on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.
