In May, Cotswold Downs Estate Manager Casper Nice, in association with Fidelity ADT, hosted an inaugural Estate Security Policing Forum (ESPF) meeting with stakeholders from surrounding Hillcrest estates, including Le Domaine, Hillcrest Country Retirement, Kirtlington Park, Camelot Estate, Greenvale Village, Plantations, Chaceley, Langford and Silver Oaks.
The ESPF was adopted by unanimous decision, with a focus on addressing and implementing proactive measures in the fight against crime. Richard Jonker, Cotswold Downs Security Manager, was elected as chairperson.
Guest speaker for the event was General Johan Booysen, a former Hawks boss and SAPS veteran, who is currently working with the Fidelity Group. “Fidelity ADT’s role in the forum will be to assist by sharing best practices, crime information and expertise. The last thing we want is for estates to adopt a false sense of security, as criminals are opportunists and will take advantage of anyone who becomes complacent. The main objective of any ESPF is to educate the community and provide them with proactive measures to stay safe,” he said.
“We are delighted to be part of this forum and to be able to contribute to its success,” said Fidelity ADT’s district manager (KwaZulu-Natal), Ivan Govender. “Crime is all about understanding behaviours and we need to make sure that we are one step ahead of the criminal element at all times.
