East Coast Radio’s Winter Warmth campaign, together with the Hub, got East Coasters talking this morning when they decided to “wrap up” Umhlanga’s iconic landmark – the Umhlanga Lighthouse. And what a day to do it. With chilly temperatures and wind and rain lashing the lighthouse – I’m sure it was quite happy to have its blanket!
ECR’s CSI Project Manager, Anusha Timul says, “We decided to do this to create awareness around an initiative that helps thousands each winter. It’s hard for people to ignore a reminder this size about just how cold winter can get. We’re hoping that it gets people talking and ultimately donating.”
You can donate new blankets or cash to buy blankets for impoverished communities, which will then be distributed across the province, with major emphasis on outer lying areas where it’s coldest.
Blankets are available at the Hub at a cost of just R40 each, or can be dropped off at any one of more than 20 Hub stores around the province.
Donations can be made in one of the following ways: direct deposit (see bank details below); online donations at www.ecr.co.za; cash donations at till points in Hub stores; at East Coast Radio House in Umhlanga Rocks.
