Mother and daughter team Michelle and Zelda recently launched Eye4art, an art gallery in Sunningdale Centre. “My mother always had a dream to open a small coffee shop with studio space to teach art and sell specialised art supplies,” says Michelle.
Both women have impressive qualifications in the field of art and they’re providing a knowledgeable platform for the local art community. “We are more than just a gallery. We provide a creative space for individuals interested in the different genres of the arts, and a fresh venue for new artists to launch their pieces,” explains Michelle. “This includes artists from all areas and cultures using different media and forms, whether they’re established or starting out.”
There are some stunning pieces on display, from miniature wildlife sketches to ceramics to wall-sized seascapes. The majority are by local artists, many well recognised.
Their art classes are already proving popular. “We cater for all standards of painting, from beginners to more advanced classes. We’ve also introduced a new concept – Hot Easel Hiring (HEH) allowing artists to come here and paint with other local artists on certain days.”
A corner called Espresso Yourself offers beverages and light meals, and another corner is devoted to the sale of art supplies. “We believe our slogan ‘Capture, Express, Inspire’ encapsulates the essence of our business,” says Michelle.
