National Police Commissioner Bheki Cele wants to introduce a rule that police officials may not wear larger uniforms for a period of seven years. They may lose weight and wear smaller uniforms, but if Cele gets his way, they will not be allowed to gain weight.
Cele told a parliamentary portfolio committee on police on Tuesday: “These days, officials need a larger uniform every year. That is not acceptable.”
According to News24, the police are negotiating with fitness groups – Virgin Active, among others – for special gym packages for police officials. – Reporting by Lizel Steenkamp, Beeld
