In the June-July issue of The Ridge we featured a story on Mount Edgecombe resident Tanya Rawson and her bridge partner Vanessa Armstrong who were heading off to Morocco to represent South Africa as part of the Springbok Bridge Team.
We are immensely proud of the Ladies Team who took the gold medal! As Tanya says, “It was the most awesome experience for all of us and a dream start – we were in the lead at the end of Day 1 and continued to hold that position right to the end. It was extremely close between Tunisia, Morocco and ourselves as to who would win the gold medal going into the final match. Suffice to say the champagne flowed when the final results were announced!”
The South African team and Tunisia (silver medallists) will now travel to Wuhan, China to represent Africa in the 44th World Bridge Championships commencing 14th September 2019. “We will be competing against the best in the world. This is an incredible opportunity to rub shoulders with the elite and learn!” said Tanya.
