The blogosphere and the world’s “netizens” (internet community) have turned on a vicious brigade of young women who’ve made a name for themselves by killing bunny rabbits and then having a good old chuckle. The whole sordid process was filmed and the images loaded on to YouTube (Sick woman crushes and kills bunny).
Before you ask, no, we will not be loading these videos to our site.
But the internet community in China has struck back at this despicable act, and its citizens have vowed for payback for the innocent animals – in a big way.
According to a report on the website The Daily Chilli: “Chinese blogs have called for a ‘human-flesh search’ for a woman who recorded herself squashing a rabbit to death and then posting the video on YouTube.”
“Human-flesh” searches are popular in China where netizens extensively research on the internet to uncover details of a targeted party to humiliate him or her.
According to The Daily Chilli, the woman who tortured the rabbit is now the latest target of this Chinese phenomenon.
Perverted
This exposure could see some perverted form of justice, but as usual with animals the tragedy is that they cannot speak for themselves. They cannot ask these twisted individuals why a young woman placed a plate on top of a rabbit and then sat on it until the animal was dead (while friends giggled in the background); or why another was cruelly dispatched by being crushed under the heel of a shoe.
Whatever the people carrying out these ghastly actions were thinking at the time: there’s no doubt about the consequences of their warped thought processes – pure evil.
All this also poses a large question mark over the quest today (fuelled by technology and the internet) to do the most crazy, most radical, most bizarre, most vicious and then film it for the world to see. This extreme form of sensationalism and exhibitionism is lapped up by the media . . . who embrace it, and have a great time giggling at some of the hilarious videos on offer.
But there has to be a line drawn . . . and intentionally hurting, maiming or killing a person or animal should be that line. So that modern media can provide information, entertainment and enjoyment rather than evil sensationalism. – Ridge Correspondent
