An excited group of gogos gathered at the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust recently to meet a very special visitor – American soapie actress Arianne Zucker, aka Nicole from Days of Our Lives.

Arianne co-founded the LifeCHANGE Leadership Programme, which partners with African Rising to make an active contribution towards youth development in SA by providing mentorship and leadership skills.
Four your adults (two from SA and two from the US) were selected for an intense character-building and mentorship programme, during which they travelled to Swaziland to assist the Thirst Project. Thereafter, they came to Hillcrest and the Imbeleko Foundation for orphaned children in Bothas Hill.
The youngsters were able to show off their new-found skills by interacting with the grannies, finding out what they need, as well as giving reading lessons to the Imbeleko children and hosting a PE lesson for them. They also helped to prepare the school grounds for the big repainting on Mandela Day.
After showing the children how to grow their own vegetables, the gogos challenged them to a soccer match – Gogolympics style! It was a great day filled with fun and friendship.
