With New Year’s resolutions still fresh in everyone’s minds, how about challenging yourself to achieve a goal and raise funds for charity while you’re at it?
The New Year provides the perfect opportunity for aspirations of self-improvement and a willingness to do something you’ve always wanted but never had the necessary time or resources to achieve.
Why not go big and aim to compete in the Midmar Mile, Dusi Canoe Marathon or Comrades Marathon? Or try something a little more easily attainable, such as losing weight or accepting a dare?
A fantastic way to spur yourself on is by starting up your own fundraising campaign for whatever it is you’d like to achieve and then donate the funds to a charity of your choice.

compete in the Dusi Canoe Marathon?
It’s easy to start your own fundraising campaign – simply visit www.doit4charity.co.za and then ask your friends and family to sponsor you.
There are over 200 non-profit organisations registered on Doit4Charity and even if the one you’d like to support is not listed, you can nominate them by filling out this form. You will be notified as soon as there has been a successful registration.
Your sponsors’ names and messages of encouragement will appear on your page.
There is no charge to use Doit4Charity. Please note, however, that a small handling fee of 10% of the value of the donation is deducted before the donation is passed on to the charity concerned.
So begin your 2014 by doing something good for both yourself and for those less fortunate by simply ‘doing it for charity’.
