Dolphins by Starlight is a journey through time for young and old alike, who will be able to see some of KwaZulu-Natal’s top musical talents and aquatic superstars at uShaka Marine World from 6 to 15 December.
Audience members will be able to hear renditions of golden oldies such as the Christmas Song, Jingle Bells and Ave Maria alongside contemporary classics like Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Justin Bieber’s Mistletoe.
The show will feature a 12 piece orchestra, the Bravo string quartet, Lauren Laing, Clive Gumede, Samantha Landers, Marion Lounden and Lelo Zondi, as well as special appearances by Top 16 Idols finalist, Jonathan Johansen, Reece van Schalkwyk and Julia Sutton.
uShaka Marine World’s ever-popular dolphins will also be adding a splash of magic to the event – queens of splash Affrika, Tombi, Khanya and Zulu, Saltwater showmen Kepie, Jula, Khwezi, Ingelosi and Gambit.
The Ocean Warrior Mascots, Slippy the Seal, Rusty the Penguin, Raggy the Shark and Delia the Dolphin will also be getting festive.
The spectacle will conclude with a moving Auld Lang Syne bagpipe solo.
Dolphins by Starlight is produced and directed by Wayne R. Scott and choreographed by Shelley Haggard. Durban theatre stalwart, Charon Williams Ross, is the assistant director, with musical direction by Shem Mahabeer.
Tickets cost R135 per adult and R110 for children under 13. Tickets are available through Computicket or through uShaka ticketing on 031 328 8000.
