“We are extremely proud of our students that have made the SA U21 squads, the hard work, dedication and discipline they have applied to their hockey and studies are certainly paying off.” Says Carole Adam, Sports and Social Manager Varsity College National Office.
Varsity College Durban North is home to the Varsity College Hockey Club, for both women and men. This is a great platform for talented hockey stars to take their hockey career to the next level by providing top class coaches, managers, medical staff and professional administrators on hand to ensure that the teams are amongst the best prepared in KwaZulu Natal. Says a proud Steve McManus, “Thank you Varsity College for the support, I feel privileged to have been chosen to represent my country.”
Four of these students were also part of the Varsity College Hockey Club Men’s team that won the prestigious Battle of the Giants tournament recently hosted at the Queensmead Stadium, Durban. This being the team’s first trophy, it has provided them with a great platform as they head into 2015 KZN Super League season.
