The Durban Prawn Festival has enjoyed immense support from the Durban community over the last couple of years and continues to grow rapidly. This year due to increased demand the Durban Prawn Festival 2010 will offer about 2 000 visitors the opportunity to experience the culinary skills of 25 of the top chefs in the region.
The stakes have been raised with chefs divided for the first time into two categories – Fine Dining and Casual Dining – to offer each visitor the opportunity to savour their signature prawn and savoury rice dishes.
Some of the participating restaurants include Aqua Seafood Restaurant – last year’s winner – The Royal Hotel, Quarters Hotel on Florida Rd, Spiga D’Oro, Thandi Restaurant, Cargo Hold, Sage @ Christina’s, Exquisite Cuisine, Dish Restaurant, Riviera Restaurant, Lingela (Elangeni Hotel), HLM @ Sibaya, The Riverside Cafe, Mozambik, Sublime, Durban Country Club, Suncoast Casino and Cosmopolitan Restaurant at The Square Boutique Hotel & Spa.
Part of this exciting event is the chefs’ competition, which has become well anticipated by local chefs. All 75 chefs from the 25 restaurants will compete in their respective category for the coveted title of Best Signature Dish in both the Fine Dining & Casual Dining categories. The visiting public will be able to vote for their favourite dishes.
Tickets available through Computicket at R150 a person or at the door on each evening. The festival is an adult event and no children under the age of 18 will be allowed.
