A Magnitude 6.3 earthquake has hit Christchurch, New Zealand , at a depth of 5km and centred 10km south-east of the city. There has been major damage to buildings and infrastructure and serious injuries.
It’s not yet clear how many fatalities there are, but there are a number of people are still trapped in buildings.
