ECR Toy Story 2011

East Coast Radio Toy Story campaign brings joy to sick children

East Coast Radio launched its Toy Story campaign 2011 on Wednesday.  Now in its 11th year, the campaign has brought hope to thousands of children around KZN.

Last year, around 45 000 new toys and more than 3 200 food parcels were delivered to children in government hospitals, creches, orphanages and child-headed households. But this campaign does more than bring a smile to children’s faces, many of whom have never experienced the joy of a new toy. “It’s not just about being bigger and better,” said Trish Taylor, East Coast Radio CEO. “It’s about how many people we can help.”

While this project appeals to more privileged children within our community, adults also have cherished memories of a favourite teddy or train set. It’s this joy that ECR wants to spread to those who have so many worries in everyday life.

The donations that are made towards food parcels help ensure that many underprivileged children can rest assured in the knowledge that they will get a meal during the long December school holidays. Nutritiously designed for children who are affected by HIV/Aids, the parcels, which are R350 each, can feed a family of five for approximately four to six weeks.

Want to get involved?

Donations can be made online, at till points in Game stores or to East Coast Radio Charitable Association, First National Bank Commercial, Gateway, account number 622 224 283 37, branch code 25 01 08, with your name as the reference.

New toys can be bought and dropped off at Game stores across KZN and at East Coast Radio’s office in Umhlanga Rocks.
