Gary Teichmann, former Springbok captain, and Stefan Terblanche, former Springbok and CEO of the SA Rugby Legends Association, will be joining the Agri Securitas Trust Fund on 28 May 2014 in Pietermaritzburg in hosting a Gala evening in aid of farm safety.

Without a safe and prosperous agricultural sector, food security and rural stability cannot be guaranteed in South Africa. The most abhorrent element of the culture of violence in rural farming areas is the unnecessary loss of lives.
The purpose of the Agri Securitas Trust Fund is to promote rural safety by contributing to rural safety projects initiated at farm level. With a positive mindset and constructive action, the fund remains committed to working for a safe and prosperous agricultural sector in South Africa.
The following projects have been financed in the past: provision of radio communication systems, the installation of boom gates and supply of rural safety equipment, funding of research on the motives behind farm attacks, support to an information-gathering service to proactively combat farm attacks, as well as trauma counselling.
In KwaZulu-Natal, the Trust Fund has been actively supporting Kwanalu’s Security Desk and also provided funding for a radio network in Nottingham road, establishing the KZ 261 control centre in Paul Pietersburg and funding Swartberg Farmer Association anti stock theft activities.
Judging from requests for contributions, it seems that such needs have increased across a wide front and the feedback received indicates that these contributions make a difference to people’s safety and their lives. Every contribution in support of the objectives of the Trust Fund is therefore sincerely appreciated.
The evening will feature Gary Teichmann as a guest speaker and Stefan Terblanche as the Master of Ceremonies.
The Farm Security Gala will take place at the Members Terrace at the Royal Show Grounds on Wednesday 28 May. Bookings for the event have closed.
