Faced with the effects of drug and alcohol abuse on our society, the directors of Isivande Wellness and Consulting Service spent four years creating a board game to educate teenagers about the dangers and help them make better decisions.
“Where 15% of South Africans have a drug problem, we know this game, TRIIPPSLIDE, can save lives and prevent heart ache,” says play therapist Anna Rodrigues.
The game is visual, tactile, social (from two to 12 players), goal oriented, interactive and fun, and – aside from educating players about the effects of drugs and alcohol – teaches life skills, including social skills, communication, problem-solving and team work.
The game has been sanctioned by ISASA and the Department of Education, who described it as “brilliant”.
