Following Garlicke & Bousfield’s relocation to La Lucia Ridge in 2001, its Property & Conveyancing Department has been instrumental in shaping the skyline of uMhlanga and the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.
The firm, which was established in 1867, has close associations with the business and banking communities in KwaZulu-Natal and is actively involved in advising property developers. The firm offers its property and developer clients a full range of legal services, and with its team of specialist property practitioners, has developed a particular niché in the conceptualisation and implementation of a number of property developments in KwaZulu-Natal.
Garlicke & Bousfield’s Property & Conveyancing Department has the capacity to handle all aspects of property developments from launch date until the registration of transfer to end users and is proud to have been involved in two iconic developments in uMhlanga, namely the Pearls of uMhlanga, which was completed over a period of 14 years, and the Oceans of uMhlanga currently under construction.
The Department has also played a major role in the development of various gated residential and golf estates, including the establishment of the various Home Owners’ Associations and the governing rules.
Garlicke & Bousfield was honoured to receive two PMR Diamond Arrow awards in 2021 for services in Development & Planning and Property Law/Litigation, as well as Golden Arrow Awards for Medium-sized Law Firms in 2021 and 2022, showcasing the service excellence of the firm and its professionals.
The Property & Conveyancing Department is managed by four directors: Simphiwe Maphumulo, Graeme Phillips, Aletta de Lange and Carla Martin, together with a number of other professionals and a large team of paralegals and support staff.
