The uMhlanga Women’s Association celebrated their first birthday by launching the UWA community kitchen and bakery – a proud partnership between the UWA and Unilever brand Knorr Flavour SA with aims of providing 400 meals daily.
“Food in bellies, skills development, awareness of food that’s good for you and the planet. That is what this kitchen and partnership means. The work we get to do helps people and contributes to positive change,” commented Devashni Ganess, brand manager for Knorr.
Praneetha Aniruth, UWA chairperson said, “The starting point was a need of wanting to help the community. We are so blessed and grateful for the generosity and support received from our sponsors and the community as a whole.”
Based at Ilala Drive, Saxony Ilala Ridge Shopping Centre, the kitchen and bakery is currently committed to providing meals daily to those in need as well as future community development initiatives by providing skills training in kitchens across the community.
