The time is drawing near… Less than an hour to go until the Springboks meet the Samoan islanders in North Harbour Stadium, Auckland.
There’s no guarantee when playing the powerful Pacific Islanders and it’s all on the line today. While South Africa currently tops the points standing in Group D, should they – god forbid – lose, without earning a bonus point, they will have to pack their bags. Tournament over!
Having beaten Australia, Samoa have shown that they are not to be trifled with and SA are likely to come out guns blazing.
Players to watch are: Alesana Tuilagi and Kahn Fotuali’I. Tuilagi for his big presence on the wing and Fotuali’I because he has played against a number of Springboks in Super Rugby and will know their tactics well.
Francois Steyn’s physicality brings a new dimension to the Springbok midfield and he will be hoping to continue his fine form. Bismarck du Plessis will make the most of his first run-on game in the RWC and his physical presence will be much-needed against the physical Samoa.
