Rob Caskie has become well-known over the past few years for his stirring talks on the Anglo Zulu wars. This Wednesday, the 7th November at the Oyster Box he takes on a new challenge. This really is an opportunity to watch a storytelling master, and on a new topic to boot.
Rob will present ‘Going South with Scott and Shackleton’, following the two extraordinary expeditions to Antartica, the coldest, highest, windiest, driest Continent on the planet.
First Captain Robert Falcon Scott, whose expedition was doomed to end in the deaths of his polar party, and then the extraordinary story of Shackleton who escaped with all twenty eight of his men after twenty months trapped in the Weddell Sea.
If you enjoy tales of the triumph of the human spirit against all odds, of courage in the face of adversity and of men not afraid to push themselves to the limit, then this might be the best R120 you spend this year.
It even includes an Oyster Box cocktail in the lovely surroundings of the Pearl Room. At 6pm for 6.30, what a lovely way to spend a Wednesday evening.
