Granny Mouse Country House & Spa makes you feel as though you have stepped back in time. Be it a weekend break you’re hankering after or a longer, more deserving, pampering stay, this popular country hotel is the ideal place to kick back, relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

The rooms at Granny Mouse are spectacular – comfortable with a cosy country feel, but infused with a modern take. Nothing has been left out: bathrooms with heated towel rails, a selection of essential oils for your bath that boasts a fabulous view, and a fireplace perfect for those chilly, winter evenings. The deluxe suites include a balcony that overlooks the Lions River – the perfect picture.

There are two stunning restaurants to choose from, offering food that’s worth leaving home for. For a more laid-back feel, the Bistro’s menu offers country classics like lamb shank, slow roasted pork loin and chargrilled beef fillet. For a light lunch, the salads are a great option, alternatively enjoy a pasta or burger that are both delicious and definitely hit the right spot after a morning taking in the nearby sights. The Eaves restaurant is Granny Mouse’s fine dining experience where the menu changes on a regular basis to include locally-sourced ingredients that are fresh and organic. We thoroughly enjoyed the Tom Yum Soup and the fillet mignon. The wine pairing option is a must when opting for this restaurant – you won’t be disappointed.

If it’s pampering you’re after, the spa is definitely worth a visit. Set within the gardens, you can enjoy the health and beauty treatments on offer, or simply relax in the jacuzzi or steam room. After a walk along the river to the waterfall and back, a well-deserved “lazy break” around the swimming pool with a good book and refreshing drink is a must. If you really are wanting to venture out and enjoy some retail therapy, the Midlands Meander has it all.

After dark, the Single Malt & Cigar Bar beckons. Beautifully decorated with wood, leather and deep red and purple loungers that make you feel warm and comfortable, this is the perfect place to end the day while you enjoy a nightcap.

Weddings at Granny Mouse are a glorious, memorable affair complete with a quaint chapel and Caversham Room that can host up to 120 guests. Overlooking the Caversham Valley, the wrap-around deck is perfect for a beautiful evening celebrating under the stars.

And if you’re serious about business, a conference room offering packages to suit your every requirement is available. The team of expert staff are efficient, well trained and extremely friendly. There is something for everyone at Granny Mouse – and it is worth a return visit. *
