The Crest February/March cover features Hillcrest Head Boy David De Backer – a passionate environmentalist, cyclist and a wonderful role model. Recently, he was nominated to attend the Global Youth Leadership Conference in the USA and he’s looking for help to get there.
The conference brings together outstanding young people from around the world to build critical leadership skills in a global context.
“A while ago, I received a letter stating that my nomination has been accepted and I have been selected as one of the top 100 youth leaders globally to attend this conference. I would like to attend the USA conference in July, which will be a 10 to 15 day experience with the 10 day conference followed by 4 days in Los Angeles. This comes to a cost of R54 000, which I need to find sponsorship for. I do not want to give up this once in a lifetime opportunity.”
