The news that filtered through in the past week, that playmate Crystal Harris had ditched Hugh Hefner just days before their wedding, must have been a knockout blow to the legendary playboy.
In the pic: Ladies man . . . Hef has always surrounded himself with a bevy of beautiful women.
The news spread like wildfire on Twitter and other social networks as Hefner’s detractors rubbed their hands in glee . . . served him right for trying to woo a woman 60 years his junior. And not just any woman, an absolute scorcher, who could have just about any guy in the world.
Let me not beat around the bush, I choose to place myself firmly in the anti-Hefner camp. The guy spends his whole life chasing women young enough to be his grandkids, offering all kinds of enticements and rewards to become his playmates. Fame, fortune, a career, luxury mansion living, a party lifestyle. And what does he expect in return? I don’t know, I’ve never been to the Playboy Mansion, but it seems to be a pretty one-sided deal to me. “I’ll give you lots of stuff and make you famous, if you do what I say,” kind of a deal.
Sour grapes, you say? Or, he’s just jealous. I don’t know much but all I wish for Hef is that he’d spend time with his real mates and enjoy the rest of his time on this crazy globe in genuine happiness. Why the endless parade of young women, when he’s really got nothing to prove to anyone?
The Mirror reported that Hef’s humiliation was capped by the embarrassing appearance of Crystal on the cover of the very latest issue of Playboy: “And there was further humiliation for Hefner yesterday – with the publication of his latest glossy mag, featuring semi-naked Crystal on the cover wearing his trademark sailor’s cap,” it said. “It hit the stands with the headline ‘America’s Princess. Introducing Mrs Crystal Hefner’… the day after the wedding, scheduled for Saturday, was cancelled.”
A very severe blow indeed to the incorrigible octogenarian’s considerable ego, as Ms Crystal Harris sailed off into the distance.
Engagement announcement: Hugh lucky old codger, what could have been.
And the could-have-been Mrs Hefner? Did Crystal, as certain tabloids are reporting, attempt to sell the story of dumping Hef to the media. Who knows, but according to some accounts she was unhappy and bored in her relationship with Hef. Who could blame her, how much could the two really have had in common? And what about that bizarre lifestyle?
Imagine Crystal decides to go for a run on the beach, or a Pilates class, or to go out shooting tequila with her mates, for example. It’s not like Hef would be able to say, “Hey honey, I’ll come along. I’ll slam five tequilas and then start drinking proper.”
Playboy wedding walkout cost people lots of cash
According to RyanSeacrest.com, Crystal spoke to Ryan Seacrest: “Hef’s lifestyle isn’t the most normal lifestyle,” Crystal told Seacrest. “Multiple girls all around, it’s not the lifestyle I wanted.”
Seacrest continued: “In addition to squashing rumours that she broke it off because she was seeing someone else, Crystal said that she thinks Hef won’t ever get married again saying, ‘He was just doing this wedding for me’.”
Nah, the whole situation with this Playboy Mansion is as dodge as anything . . . but tell that to the millions of teenage boys (and older fans too) who sit glued to the screen, lapping up every Hefner move . . . and those of Holly, Kendra, Crystal and the rest of the jolly gang. – Ridge Correspondent
