Hirsch’s help Inanda entrepreneur

Inanda resident Khanyisile recently attended a workshop run by Kim Blom specially designed for young potential entrepreneurs. The aim of the workshop was to give a few basic business skills, help the participants identify their skills, dreams and plans for the future.

They were also helped to create a business plan and to plot their course in terms of what they required to either start their own business or become employable.

Khanyisile, who is shy but also has the determination to survive and thrive, lost both of her parents and lives with her sisters. She would like to start a home bakery at home as there is no-one providing that service where she lives. Her home is across the Inanda Dam and transport is costly and difficult so that provides a captive audience for her business.

This is where Hirsch’s took action. “After receiving a beautiful motivation from Kim, we realised Khanyisile’s potential,” said Sarah Brauns, Hirsch’s PRO.

“We sourced a stove, big enough to carry a reasonable amount of baking trays and delivered it to her home. On delivering the stove, I decided to add in an extra little surprise, a cook book written by Margaret Hirsch, Khanyisile’s inspiration.”

Khanyisile recently attended a talk by Margaret Hirsch, who made her realise that she can achieve anything she dreams of – with hard work. “I enjoyed the morning very much. It was good to listen to someone telling me that I can achieve my dreams, I just must not give up, even if it is hard,” she said.

Khanyisile was overwhelmed when she received her stove and cookbook and, when asked how she felt, she turned to Sarah and said, “I don’t know, I’m just too happy!”
