Exciting news for Ballito’s only five star hotel, Hotel Izulu, is that it has reached an agreement with African Hotels and Adventures (AHA), which will have rights to represent the hotel to the leisure and business travel market.
Grant Pringle, managing director of Hotel Izulu, commented: “We’ve awarded the contract to AHA on the back of the company’s proven track record of managing a large portfolio of city hotels, lifestyle retreats and lodges, its sophisticated reservation system and the large volumes of tourists and business travellers sourced by Tourvest’s travel agency and tour operator business.”
Hotel Izulu becomes AHA’s preferred hotel in KwaZulu-Natal, specifically in the vicinity of the King Shaka International Airport, seen as an important strategic corridor by the group. “We expect this to boost our sales and the awareness of Hotel Izulu, also promoting KZN as a destination of choice to local and international markets,” said Pringle.
AHA’s sophisticated and far-reaching online reservation system is seen as a powerful tool to boost Izulu’s presence in the international market.
Tourvest Accommodation and Activities CEO Gary Elmes said AHA was looking forward to a mutually rewarding relationship with Hotel Izulu. “Hotel Izulu is a welcome addition to our portfolio and we’re extremely happy to be entering this partnership. Part of Izulu’s efforts to ensure a personal touch and engagement with its visitors is the theming of many of its suites, such as the “Romance Suite”, “Zebra Suite” and, of course, the “Royal Suite”. Owners Owen and Jackie Williams said that regulars become rather attached to specific suites and this repeat business and frequent referrals helped to enhance that intimate, personal feeling about the hotel.

**Hotel Izulu has implemented a change at its restaurant Gigis Brasserie. “We have decided to go a little less formal,” said Pringle, “Gigis has been given a bit of a makeover by Jackie, and will now function as an upmarket bistro. Our focus is on the best possible ingredients and local product.”
