When Hyper Pool Group opened its first branch in KwaZulu-Natal in uMhlanga in November last year, it planned to build both a strong foundation and sound customer relationships. A year later and the national group expects its first full summer near the seaside to be a strong one.
“The company culture is that we wanted to grow organically. From the outset, we wanted to make sure we were properly grounded as a business, that our staff are well trained. More and more customers are finding out about us, and we are learning about the area as customers are learning about us,” says head of the KZN branch, Rathin Vasram.
He says the choice of location was important as uMhlanga is not only a prime area, but one that lacked a one-stop specialist swimming pool retailer and relied on large mall-based suppliers.
Hyper Pool soon discovered they’d filled an important gap. Even during the winter months, growth was steady and Rathin is confident the company will benefit from a trend observed in the Group’s 10 branches countrywide – people are spending more on their homes in the wake of lockdown adding to the positive growth.
The Group brings 30 years of on-the-ground experience to its customers and is a true entrepreneurial success story having grown from a single shop in Vereeniging into a national group that now also has its own brands, AquaKing and Eartheco.
Rathin has more than 10 years’ experience in the industry in KZN working with leading international brands.
With this background, Hyper Pool not only supplies the trade with equipment and products for building and maintaining swimming pools, but also welcomes all pool owners who need assistance with their pool care requirements. The company also distributes and delivers product from its 600m² facility to a broad range of clients within the province.
Going forward, Rathin says Hyper Pool intends to grow its footprint in the province as it shares its existing expertise as well as establishes itself at the forefront of new technologies, strong trade partnerships, and serving the needs of local pool owners.
