Ambassador Walter Lindner Biography:
Walter Lindner is the new German Ambassador in South Africa. Lindner and his wife Laura Sustersic arrived in the country on July 17, 2015 only to roll up their sleeves and take part in the Mandela Day activities of the German Embassy in Soweto the day after. They have lived and worked in Africa for a decade and developed a true passion for the continent and its people. Having majored in music at university, Lindner is passionate about African tunes. Lindner previously served as the spokesperson of the German Foreign Minister, Germany’s Ambassador to Kenya, Director for Sub-Saharan Africa in the German Foreign Office and until recently as the Special Representative of Chancellor Merkel for the Ebola Crisis.
