East Coast Radio’s consumer journalist Wendy Knowler – in her latest blog on the East Coast Radio website – highlights the alarming technology used by criminals to jam the radio signal emitted by a vehicle’s remote, thus preventing the car from locking.
When people arrive at shopping malls, for example, and leave their vehicles to go about their business, they press the locking device on the car’s remote, believing the vehicle will lock.
Unfortunately criminals are now blocking the command to lock the vehicle and then stealing valuables in the car, like laptops, cellphones, iPods etc.
According to Wendy there’s been a strong response to the column. Make sure your vehicle is actually locked before you head off to do your shopping or business.
