The atmosphere was electric on Tuesday night as South Africa tuned in to find out who would crack the Idols Top Seven, and who would be going home. It came down to Jamie-Lee and Jess in the bottom two, but Jess was the one to come out on top and Jamie-Lee had to say farewell.

Umhlanga’s Jessica Yallup is a 22-year-old with big dreams and an even bigger voice. A former Crawford La Lucia student and full-time musician, Jess has lived in Durban all her life, and also teaches drama to children. Her last performance, a version of Just Jinger’s What He Means, was described by Idols judge Mara Louw as “fantastic”.
