May 30, 2011. Rugby legend John Smit cooked a magnificent prawn curry at Hirsch’s Springfield Park’s as part of their 13th birthday celebrations on Sunday.
Looking confident and happy after the Sharks’s victory over the Waratahs the day before, John Smit, who is SMEG appliances’ ambassador, said that he enjoyed experimenting with food.
“This is the sort of thing I really enjoy doing – and brewing a really good coffee! I leave the baking to my wife,” he said.
John was assisted by SMEG’s Danny Bender.
Smit, the stalwart captain of the Sharks rugby team and most capped Springbok captain, lives on the North Coast, while the SMEG showroom is on Umhlanga Ridge.
