The world-renowned Kearsney College choir has been invited to sing at the 2012 Rhythms of One World Choral Festival – the only choir selected from the African continent.
The festival will take place at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York City from 25 June. The choir will then go on to compete for the title of Olympic Champion at the World Choir Games in Ohio.
In order to help the Choir take part, Kearsney College will host an Art Auction and Wine Tasting.
A number of local artists have donated works for the auction, including Robin Townsend, Paul Muzefani, Leigh Woodgate, Sue Green, Charmaine Eastment, Sue Whitmore, Mary Karnezos, Eric Oswald, Carol Neith, Andrew Macleod and Anne Cleveland.
Also to be auctioned is a set of signed limited edition pencil prints of the Big 5 by Gunther and a signed photograph of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, sitting in the locally beaded Dream Chair taken by celebrated photographer Matthew Wilman.
Wines from 35 estates as well as artisanal beers will be available for tastings.
