The Maris Stella Art Exhibition in Association with The Sunflower Fund takes place at Kizo Art Gallery in Gateway up to October 14. The exhibition is entitled “Five 2 Midnight” and the eight large sunflower paintings depict the urgent need for The Sunflower Fund to recruit bone marrow stem cell donors, to give leukaemia sufferers the hope of finding their 1 in 100 000 life-saving donor match.
Seven of the eight paintings created by Maris Stella pupils between the ages of nine and 12 have already been bought by corporates for R3000 each. The sponsors include ARB Electrical, Consolidated Financial Planning, D&A Timbers, The Hardy Boys, Netcells, Primed Health Services and Sumner Signs.
Two hundred smaller pieces of art, also produced by Maris Stella pupils, will be hung at Kizo for the week and sold for R200 each. All proceeds will go to The Sunflower Fund along with 10% of the sale price of any Kizo stock sold during this period.
