An unbeatable selection of artists and music is on the cards for the next event in the St Agnes Kloof Concert Series, taking place on Friday, 19 September 2014. This mix of Spanish, Latin and Italian popular music brings together ‘friends forever ‘ Federico Freschi (baritone) and James Grace (guitar), both long-standing musical partners of renowned pianist Christopher Duigan.
Residing in Johannesburg and Cape Town, respectively, they are joined by Spanish virtuoso David Salleras (saxophone) in this dynamic production. The musicians are all taking part in The Witness Hilton Arts Festival, which starts the same day, and this performance offers Kloof audiences a sneak preview!
A sought-after vocalist on many of South Africa’s top concert and opera stages, Freschi sings Neapolitan songs including ‘O sole mio’ and ‘Santa Lucia’, accompanied by James Grace on the mandolin. In ‘Granada’ he teams up with Salleras, whose accompanying improvisations bring authentic Spanish flavour.
Grace and Duigan play a selection from their popular ‘Together Again’ programme, including Duigan’s popular ‘Indigo’, as heard in another recent St Agnes performance. They join Salleras in the flamenco inspired ‘La Fiesta’ and ‘Spain’. This is an unbeatable selection played by four outstanding performers.
