Plumbago B&B is a piece of paradise, just a couple of minutes from the beach in Leisure Bay. Mick and Libby Gooddall invite you into their home, a personal space, where you are welcome to be yourself.
The property has a tranquil olde world feel, with beautiful furnishings and a wraparound balcony that puts you right in among the trees. You can choose from three bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, in the main house or a separate garden suite. A vast collection of coffee table books means you have plenty to read in a cool spot, should you wish. Take your pick from the balcony, a first floor suntrap and the quiet of the garden.
Alternatively, there’s the beach, a short walk away, where you can bask in the sun or enjoy a swim on any one of three shark net protected beaches. The Umtamvuma Nature Reserve is just a few kilometres inland and offers spectacular walks, as well as the chance to see Cape vultures.
Food is fresh and delicious, and we were entertained by Mick and his family, as we sat around the dining table, swapping stories. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, but, if you’re a very private person, this is not for you.
After a blissful night’s sleep in a king-size bed, you wake to the sound of the crashing waves, the local troop of monkeys and loeries cavorting in the trees outside your window. Who could wish for more?
