Another night of mayhem unfolded in the UK on Tuesday night, as riots and looting spread to Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and other centres.
See a video of the London riots below…
Rioting erupted on Saturday evening less than a mile from White Hart Lane, Tottenham FC’s home ground, after a peaceful protest against the fatal shooting of local man Mark Duggan turned violent.
Many South African’s watched on in horror as familiar neighbourhoods, including Battersea and Hackney, flashed up on TV screens – with windows shattered and buildings ablaze!
According to the BBC, a murder inquiry is under way in Birmingham after three pedestrians were run over and killed. It is not known if the incident is linked to the rioting. It is thought the men were protecting their neighbourhood at the time.
David Cameron is due to chair a meeting of the Cabinet’s emergency committee Cobra for the second day running.
The prime minister has said police will stay in the capital as long as necessary. Leaders are left considering the cause of the chaos – be it poor parenting, a lack of entertainment for youngsters or the spread of gang culture.
