Since it first hatched in 1993, Stiles and Drewe’s award-winning musical Honk! has winged its way around the world in over 8 000 productions and in many different languages. Rising Star Performing Arts Academy will stage this production in September 2012 at Seabrooke’s Theatre and need a cast of 30 musical theatre performers to take part.
Performers can be male or female, between 10 and 18 years of age. Singing and dancing is of utmost importance to this show.
Open auditions will be held 26 and 27 May at The Westville Theatre Club, from 2pm till 5pm. Registration for the auditions runs from 1.30pm to 2pm each day.

Prospective performers must come to the auditions in comfortable clothing suitable for dance auditions and must be prepared to stay for the duration of the audition. Please arrange your own refreshments. It is very important that all performers arrive in time for the audition registration as the first part of the audition will be learning the audition song and dance steps. Late-comers may be disqualified.
Rehearsals will commence 2 June. Cast members must be available for rehearsals every Saturday during June, every Saturday/Sunday during August and will also be required to attend an intensive rehearsal week 9 to 12 July. Attendance to all rehearsals is compulsory.
Honk! is a world-wide stage sensation that has been seen by over 5 million people. Honk has won multiple awards including the 2000 Olivier Award for Best Musical (beating the Lion King and Mamma Mia for the prize). Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Ugly Duckling”, “Honk!” tells the story of an odd looking baby duck, Ugly, and his quest to find his mother.
