If you live on the Ridge, or the surrounding area, the chances are you have visited or know of Marco Paulo. The reputation of Paul Sheppard as a chef goes before him, Billy in the front of house is always spot on,and visiting is a gastronomic treat, special enough for a birthday or an Anniversary.
For that reason it is not always the first place I think of when I am thinking of a quick and reasonable lunch, but when I took my fourteen year old in yesterday I made a mental note to think of it from now on!
We ate the Peri Peri Mozambiquan chicken, with the yummiest chips and steamed green beans, and were surrounded by ladies having a salad, or guys with delicious looking sandwiches.
The chicken really was a treat, and when our bill came in at R200 including our drinks I was delighted. The white bean and tuna salad with green beans, rocket, black olive and basil tapenade is delicious and at R48 is a steal.
Sandwiches are above the norm in both presentation and flavour, and again at around R50 you will come away full to the brim, having nibbled on the substantial garlic ciabatta that appears as soon as you sit down. Delicious and not just for special occasions….
