SUNCOAST is jazzing things up this Sunday, 11 October as the Max Mikula Trio get ready to entertain us with their jazz and uptown swing beats!
Max Mikula is an accomplished electrical guitarist and music director who started off with the hugely successful pop musician, Henry Ate. In the early 2000’s Max Mikula was nominated for two SAMA’s (South African Music Awards) for his work with jazz group, Tsunami.
The group wrote, arranged and produced exceptional original material for their debut album, simply entitled “Tsunami”. The album was released 12 November 2001 andcontained an extraordinary blend of their diverse styles.
Since then Max Mikula has gone on to set up his own ensemble, the Max Mikula Trio which is a blend of jazz and uptown swing. “We cannot wait to bring our music which is a mixture of jazz, funk and world music to the Suncoasters this Sunday, we ready to get feet tapping and fingers snapping so make sure to be there” says Max Mikula.
Sunday Beat is a free monthly musical session that is open to the public, which takes place at the Suncoast Amphitheatre from 2pm. Many spectators who have attended the sessions have enjoyed the tranquillity, such as Samantha Hhols who said “It’s what Durban is about, beautiful people, sea and great entertainment”.
