The Durban Youth Council represents the youth of Durban and aims to uplift local youngsters by encouraging them to give to those less fortunate, to engage in community projects and to encourage new leaders to do their bit.
The council has an annual fundraising event on 22 October, with this year’s event taking place at Durban Girls’ College. Mr and Ms Durban Youth 2011 is open to all the youth of Durban and the winner will be chosen based on both beauty and personality.
The pageant, which is completely organised by the youth, takes a modern and high fashion twist to bring to its audience something never seen before. The theme for the evening is ‘A Night in New York’. One of the challenges set for the contestants was a photo shoot at Virginia Airport. See the results below…
The panel of judges features Ms South Africa Teen and a five-time pageant winner, including Ms India Globe.
The event will also feature the work of award-winning designer Karen Monk-Klijnstra, who has shown at SA Fashion Week.
