It was a once in a lifetime experience, at the Durban rugby stadium on the 24 of September 2022. It was my first time. I went with my mom and some Argentinian friends. It was Springboks VS Argentina.
Just before we went to sit in our seats, the players came in from their bus and walked right past us! My favourite player is Faf De Klerk and my mom’s favourite player is Siya Kolisi. When we were at our seats there were people selling chips and chocolates, so my mom gave me money and I got some Simba Chips.
Then the game started, after about 10 minutes South Africa got a try and then scored. Now they got 7 points, and Argentina has 0. Then South Africa got another 7. After a while Argentina got a try, and scored 7 points. At half time my mom, her friend Isabel and I went for a little walk at the bottom of the seats. When half time was done there was a man with no shirt on, holding a South African flag. He was running on the bottom row of the seats. He even knocked a guy’s beer over! 20 minutes later… and South Africa is in the lead with 31 points, and coming next Argentina with 21.
10 points apart, the game continues. Then on the last 5 minutes of the game South Africa got a try and scored 7 points, AND WON!! South Africa, only 1 point away from winning the whole championship.
When heading out the halls where packed with people, everyone from South Africa were singing a victory song. My mom and I were also singing along.
On the way home to Hillcrest, I thought: “I’m really lucky!”
