Confusion surrounds the abduction of a woman who had been working at the KwaDukuza Hospital on the North Coast.
The KwaDukuza Police would not confirm that the nurse was abducted by strikers but said they were continuing to investigate the matter. Police said the woman was very traumatised and did not want to volunteer any further information.
According to the KwaDukuza Police, the nurse’s alleged kidnappers, who accosted her when she was on her way home, released her and she is now at home in Pietermaritzburg.
Police spokesman Col Jay Naicker said she was found about 1.30pm on Monday afternoon and was in good health. He would not disclose the nurse’s name for fear of jeopardising the case.
The KZN Health Department’s Chris Maxon declined to comment saying that the KwaDukuza Police were handling the matter.
