A Brunch at Hirsch Ballito was held recently for local accommodation establishments, Estate Agents, Developers and the general public with Enterprise Illembe’s Cheryl Peter’s who gave an up date of all the latest tourist initiatives on the North Coast that are being put in place to help coax tourists to stop over in the area for longer periods of time.
Some of the initiatives include a wine route – 10.1 h/a of vines have been planted locally, a winery is up and running and the first lot of grapes “Villa Blanc” will be picked early next year.
A birding safari – we have over 400 varieties of birdlife in the area; The King Shaka route –it’s becoming more and more popular with overseas visitors; the North Coast Writers Trail – there are several famous writers from the area, including Chief AlbertLuthuli, Benedict Vilakazi and Dianne Stewart and the Writers Trail – the project researches the writers and areas associated with them.
Cheryl also spoke about the Great Train Race, a new event on the North Coast Calendar – which will take place in August next year for the first time.
