A truck overturned on the M19 at the N2 intersection in Umgeni yesterday afternoon, spilling its load of onions all over the road and causing a traffic jam that stretched beyond Spaghetti Junction and up the N3 past the Pavilion.
Traffic was blocked as the truck lay in the road and there was a significant amount of oil spillage into the second lane.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, the truck was lying in the road partially into the centre median.

The driver and only occupant of the truck had managed to climb out of the wreckage, but he had sustained significant injuries to his right leg, and also complained of neck and back pain.
He was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.
