Highway residents have been warned to limit the amount of road travel they do, as petrol reserves run low. There have been reports of stations running out of fuel, including some in Hillcrest.
Reports are that there is no petrol at the Poly Pony in Shongweni and the BP in Hillcrest/Winston Park, among others.

According to East Coast Radio, The Fuel Retailers Association is urging petrol stations to consider rationing fuel to help control panic, buying, as the forth day of the petroleum industry strike causes supply problems across the country. Gauteng has been hardest hit, with 150 stations closed, but KZN is in second place, with as many as 50 unable to supply fuel to their customers.
About 70 000 fuel workers from the Chemical, Energy, Paper, Printing, Wood, and Allied Workers’ Union and the General Industries Workers’ Union of SAare on strike.
They are demanding a minimum salary of R6000 a month and a 40-hour working week.
