The Johannesburg man known simply as Cliff, or “PigSpotter” had, at the latest count, tweeted 3 593 times and had 17 388 followers on Twitter.
Johannesburg Metro Police were irate that PigSpotter was informing drivers of where they were conducting roadblocks and setting up speedtraps.
PigSpotter said he was concerned about alleged abuse of authority by traffic officers who, he said, exploited vulnerable motorists.
