It seems an outrageous announcement, that Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II will not meet Kate Middleton’s parents ahead of her wedding to the queen’s grandson Prince William in April.
While the Queen says she may meet the couple in private, it seems extraordinary that the two families will not get together before the event, eagerly anticipated by millions around the world.
The Herald Sun reported that the palace has denied the lack of contact is a snub to the commoner’s family. She “has not felt the need” to meet the future in-laws of her grandson William, and apparently has no plans to do so before the ceremony at Westminster Abbey. If they were to meet, it would be a private affair.
